Book Club Discussion Questions for “Nowhere To Go But Tomorrow.”

As an author, one of the greatest joys is seeing readers dive deep into the pages of my book and uncover the layers of meaning, emotion, and intention woven into the story. Book clubs provide a unique opportunity for shared exploration, and to make your discussions even more engaging, here are 15 thought-provoking questions tailored to my work:

1. Do you think choosing to tell the story through the point of view of
children deepened the novel?
2. Do you think the novel encourages the reader to consider the thinking at that time and
seek more information about that historical period?
3. What character did you like? Dislike? And why?
4. There are a lot of ‘names’ used in this novel. What are your thoughts about the author’s
intent to name everyone?
5. What significant events shaped Kaye’s character?
6. What significant events shaped Seth’s character?
7. Do Kaye, Seth and Margo’s High School experiences take you back to some memories of
your own?
8. Why did Kaye feel such responsibility toward her peers?
9. Toe/Seth loved to learn, is there something in his educational experience you found
significant?
10. How did “growing up with everyone being different” make Kaye and Seth ‘different’
both as children and as adults?
11. Did the author create an atmosphere of caring by the workers?
12. Are you surprised at the magnitude and self-sustaining ability of the institution?
13. Can you imagine the complexity of caring for the clients considering limited staff and
medical resources available at that time?
14. Do you think their years of living at the “Home” will have impact on the rest of their
lives? Why? Why not?
15. What is your take away from this novel?

I hope these questions spark lively, meaningful discussions that deepen your appreciation for the book and its themes. If you’re hosting a book club featuring my work, I’d love to hear your thoughts! If your book club dives into these questions, tag me on social media to share your favorite moments or revelations—I love connecting with readers!

Happy reading,
Nelle Cooper
